Please discuss on the users list, what your requirements really are and what can be done to achieve it. XStream is explicitly working on a stream model, so there is theoretically no limit of what can be processed, neither in number of objects nor in size of data. Any kind of limitation is therefore very specific to your object model and the consequences reaching a limit is even more specific.
